António Poteiro (1925 - 2010) was a Portuguese and Brazilian sculptor, ceramist and painter who moved to Brazil as an infant. He is considered one of the masters of primitive Brazilian painting. He started the artistic life as a craftsman, producing ceramics for domestic use, masks and dolls, from which the "Poteiro" of his stage name came from pot he made pots of flowers. In 1987 he received the commendation Ofiacialato of the Order of Merit, granted by the Portuguese government.
